The Brooke Michelle Workshop (ahhhhh so crazy) was designed for those photographers who have a general understanding of how to use their camera and are looking for more. This workshop was designed with those like me in mind, the ones who business, marketing, client experience and oh jeez, taxes, don’t come easy for. The ones who may need an excuse to find themselves in their business and find their voice, one that is uniquely their own.
As a creative I can tell you first hand that we are not all programmed the same. There are some photographers that find the art and use it as their outlet for all things business and marketing. And then there are creatives like me… the ones who just love picking up the camera, shooting, interacting with clients and playing with new funky edits or techniques. Then BAM, a gentle wake up call, you realize to be able to do what you love you kind of need to learn how to play all the roles. As photographers we have to learn how to be the web designer, the marketing team, the customer service crew, all the in betweens, and then we get to be the photographer.
In 2015 I attended the Bayside Workshop, a two day business intensive hosted by two ladies I adore, Natalie Franke & Krista Jones. As a girl straight out of high school this workshop completely changed and altered the direction of my business. From learning the difference between an LLC & sole proprietorship to learning what a brand even is, posing, client experience and so much more that my eyes were quickly opened to. I had known for years that I had so much to learn in order to properly run a business and yet I wasn’t even sure where to begin asking questions. I wasn’t sure what I didn’t know and this workshop solved all of that! It was like someone handed me all the answers on a perfectly styled gold platter.

I created this workshop to be in an intimate setting. One where we could sit around drinking margaritas or snack on some quac as we just discuss how to grow our businesses together. One where we can sit on the floor all as equals, because no matter what stage of business you are in, that’s what we are… equal. We’ve all made mistakes. We’ve all had questions and concerns. We all started somewhere, and now from here we can begin to learn and grow together.
I’m so excited to offer a two and half day business intensive, mixed with a retreat style vibe where we can feed off of everyone’s energy in the room and find what makes each of you uniquely you! We will sit through lectures that feel more like pow wows with friends and walk through exercises to not only learn tools to take our business further efficiently, but also to figure out what makes YOU unapologetically unique and how we can use that to take your business to the next step!
I’m Brooke or as some know me, Brooke Michelle, and I am the face behind this little gem, Brooke Michelle Photography! I am my mother's flower child and generally obsessed with avocados. You will start to notice that the color yellow is essentially my spirit animal… it’s bold, bright and full of happiness. Most days you can find me wrapped in a blanket (no matter how warm it is outside) in front of my desktop editing beautiful clients, or chasing adventure with some of my closest friends in a beautiful new city. I believe that we all create our own happiness and don't always have to have everything figured out, and yes, I am still human so some days I am working on that myself. For me, bad days are drowned in chocolate and lots of espresso and good days remind me of all I have to be thankful for.
I began my business when I was just 17 years old during my senior year of high school. This business has been a journey for me and so far, it’s been a pretty spectacular one that only gets better with age. Throughout the journey I have realized the things I am most passionate about are making sure that I am first, a great human being, and secondly, an amazing business woman. At the forefront of it all I want to remember to lead with my heart. I firmly believe that the key to success is staying humble because the truth is that without all of you, I wouldn't have this adorable business to run!
My favorite season of the year is summer and that reflects strongly in my photography style! I love warm tones and pretending like every day is filled with sunshine!
Remember how I said it’s going to feel like pow wows with new friends? Well the accommodations are a huge part of that! We will all be staying in one big house together for the 3 days and 2 nights! For this reason, I am offering this workshop to only women. Most of the rooms share bunk beds and some even have double beds, so to have everyone remain comfortable this is a big female sleepover!
The closest airport is an hour away at Baltimore–Washington International Airport (BWI), which is where I would suggest flying into if you are coming from far!

4 people will be snuggling and 6 will be camp style with some twin beds and some bunk beds!
